Transport: XST 750 "Le Grand Reservoir"

Fried lives in Driebergen (near Utrecht) with Llia and their little girl Steffie. Fried works at the University of Utrecht and is head of the Research Information Centre for Biologie.
Up till now Fried has traversed the Sahara 5 times:
1981: hitch-hiked per truck from Egypte to Sudan
1986: with a Peugeot 505 Break from Algiers to Niger
1989: with a  XST 750 v1.0 from Morocco via Algeria to Mali
1990: with a Mercedes 508 D from Niger to Algeria
1995: with a XST 750 v2.0 from Morocco via Mauritania to              Senegal

Hobbies besides off road riding:
   - Collecting Yamaha XS 650's (and other makes too!)
   - Founder and ex-chairman of the Dutch Yamaha XS 650 Club
   - Photography
   - Acrobatics
   - Long distance ice skating (2x Eleven cities marathon)
   - Mountain hiking (Annapurna in Nepal,  Mount Cook in New
      Zealand, etc.)
   - Travelling in general

Transport: XT 500

Cees is a Marine Biologist, presently training Secondary Education Teachers in the Science and Technology Department of the Central Dutch Polytechnic (HvU) in Utrecht.
Cees has prior experience with motorbike riding in Europe and Nothern Africa. Cees is inseparable with his Yamaha V-Max
(I love the smell of burning rubber), although he has developed some affection for the Yammie XT 500.
Other hobbies or interests:
        - Diving (Cees is an instructor)
        - Off shore sailing 
        Driving his old Mercedes Benz (oh well...see photo gallery)  .

Annemarie's job is a HR manager.  She thrives on challenges. Her hobbies are:
        - Diving (Annemarie is a dive master)
        - Off shore sailing
        - Global travelling
Annemarie will not be riding a bike but will drive the 4-wheel drive supply vehicle.

Mirjam too, lives in Utrecht with Willem. Her occupation is camera-woman at the National Dutch Broadcasting Services. She normally rides a XS 650 and has bike experience in Europe and the Levant.
Besides her usual camera work she also an excellent photographer.
Furthermore she likes travelling on motorbike, windsurfing, ceramics, developing all kinds of idea's and trying to realise them.
Mirjam will co-drive the supply vehicle and alternately ride a motorbike.

Harry lives in Amersfoort and is a psychologist and works as a didactical coach for an IT Training Institute (Compu'Train). He normally rides his ......(figure that out for yourself) and has on/off-road experience in Europe and Northern Africa. Besides his passion for motorbike riding his other hobbies include:
     - Alpine skiing
     - Parapente (para-gliding)       photo1 photo 2 
     - Long distance running (marathons)
     - Off shore sailing
    - Global travel

Harry will be riding his '79 XT 500 on this trip.
